If I were to add an Apple TV and HD Fury would that result in a better sound quality than simply using the inbuilt TV app? Or would the improvement be limited?įinally, if I were to use an Arcana with my PS5 for UHD Blueray with TrueHD output, is this the only way I could get the "full" Atmos experience? I believe Apple TV use "MAT" format for it's Dolby Atmos audio, which is a higher quality audio signal. As I understand it, all streaming platforms use lossy Dolby Atmos encoding, so adding an Arcana would make zero difference, as eArc is not required for the lossy Dolby Atmos. I also have a PS5 which is capable of Dolby Atmos/True HD pass through for HD BlueRays, but not games. Mainly I use this for Netflix (via inbuild TV app with lossy Dolby Digital+ Atmos) and a firestick HD (again lossy Dolby Digital+ Atmos). I use it with a non-eARC Panasonic GZ950, which does pass through Dolby Atmos in it's lossy format.
